Performance by Maria Hera
20.11.2015 // 18h Friday Exit - NO WALLS Performance-evening: 20th November, 6 p.m. In cooperation with VIENNA ARTWEEK Herat Beat 2.0 Inspired by a TED-Talk about body-language, of the biochemist Amy Cuddy I got highly interested in the impact of body-poses to the way we feel about ourselves and even our hormones. She and her colleges found out that, the poses we perform not only show others our level of energy and state of mind, but also performing these poses, for at least one minute, will change the level of hormones in our body. Low power poses increase the cortisone and lowers testosterone and serotonin, wether high power poses lower cortisol and increase testosterone and serotonin up to 40 percent, depending on the time performed. What triggered my interest deeply was the fact, how much the poses we perform in our daly life, especially when using electronic devices, force us in low power poses and thus limiting our ability of using our full mental and emotional intelligence. I developed a choreography based on the most common poses we perform in our social, working and private life and contrast them with high power poses, that we all know well, but are somehow unexpected or judged as inappropriate. As I am supposed to keep each pose for at least one minute, I slowed down my moves to the maximum in order to synchronize and intensify the impact on my body/mind and the spectators. Here I orientated myself on the Japanese Go- and Kabuki theatre, and the works of Paz Katarina Jimenez. The inner processes stimulated by the poses manifest themselves also in significant changes oft my heartbeat. By using an ultrasound device, fixed at my heart center, that can be used together with a wireless audio transmitter and a PA-System, I open another dimension of experiencing the inner processes. For three weeks Mz Baltazar’s Laboratory and Kollektiv OutSight have been sharing the gallery space of Friday Exit, trying to connect, exchange ideas, and produce a collaborative show. Coming from different modes of artistic practice, but sharing a common political stance, the two collectives -identifying themselves as feminist- work in the intersections of arts, technology, sciences, and the social.
The concept of the exhibition is the result of a collaborative and creative dialogue across different topics in which the dichotomies of private/ public, exhibitionism/ voyeurism, passive/ active, telematic/ physical were decisive in the process of questioning the active social act of connecting. By mapping the space as a network of thoughts, the artists expose their work-in-progress, and therefore their efforts and difficulties within the process of trying to establish links with each other, the space, and the public. The concepts of connection, network, collaboration, presentability, reenactment, collective (un)consciousness, virtuality, tactility, and collage are bound together and offered to explore through a voyeuristic interface. By using a smart device the audience is invited to connect with the physical and immaterial space and with each other. The two collectives see this as a moment of producing new collaborations between those who will carry such a device and those who won’t, a game of interaction among the audience. Sharing a small screen for a few seconds, trying to make connections between audio and visual pieces can become a fruitful experience especially when shared with a stranger. Moments of such brief interactions and connections, bringing people together to experience something that is barely present itself. A collaborative project by: MzBL Anna T. Patrícia J. (process open to public, stay updated for special events) Freitagslos: Friday, 20.2.2015, 7pm (more information coming up) Finissage: Friday, 6.3., 7pm +++ Mz Baltazar’s Laboratory is a weekly event taking place in Vienna (Austria), specifically for persons who call themselves women or trans. If you love to make things, rather than consuming them, meet up at Mz Baltazar‘s to share your skills. Mz Baltazar‘s participants come from different backgrounds, ages and mindsets to exchange equipement, build circuits, play with DIY electronics and interactive art. We encourage each other to learn new tools and collaborate. All workshops are free in order to offer a fearless, accessible plattform to tinker with male connotated toys. The artwork created at Mz Baltazar‘s Laboratory is generated with Open Source Soft- and Hardware. We see the process of demythifying technology as a fun way to articulate ourselves and become creative. OutSight (O.K.O) The art group OutSight was founded by Franziska Faust, Lena Violetta Leitner, Lena Marinova und Steffi Neuhuber in Octobre 2010 to avoid the existing traditional hierarchies in theatre and cultural activities. It is very important for OutSight to collaborate with women from different fields, so that a network is being created that inforces women to express themselves in an artistic way. OutSight experiments with media art, music, dance and performance and therefore creates multidisciplinary works (installations, performances, concerts, videos). Recurrent topics are reflections about ideals in the society and heteronomy. +++ Friday Exit Döblergasse 2 / EG 1070 Wien Do & Fr 17-20 Uhr, Sa 11-15 Uhr Collage & Videoinstallation Von Maria Hera

Im Aberglauben Galten Schmetterlinge Gar Als Verkörperung Von Hexen, Die Es Auf Den Rahm Abgesehen Hatten, Worauf Auch Frühere Landschaftliche Bezeichnungen Für Schmetterlinge Wie Milchdieb, Molkenstehler Oder Ähnliche Hindeuten. Die Englische Bezeichnung Butterfly Weist In Dieselbe Richtung Und Entspricht Dem Regional Gebräuchlichen Buttervogel, Da Die Tiere Beim Butterschlagen Angelockt Wurden. Das Altgriechische Wort Für Schmetterling War Ψυχή Psyche, Gleichbedeutend Mit „Hauch, Atem, Seele“. Die Installation In Den Schaufenstern Von Mz Baltazars Laboratory Befasst Sich Mit Dem Zusammenspiel Von Produktionsprozess Und Fertigem Werk. Wir Sehen Zum Einen Eine Art Media-Hacking, Die Glatte Oberfläche Der Uns Umgebenden Medienbilder Wird Aufgebrochen, Hinterfragt, Herausgelöst. Dem Körper Wird Seine Verletzlichkeit Zurückgegeben. Drei Schmetterlinge, Schälen Sich Heraus Jeder Für Sich Eine Eigene Welt, Jeder Eine Eigene Geschichte Die Entschlüsselt Werden Will. Gleichzeitig Lässt Uns Die Videodokumentation In Den Oft Verborgenen Produktionsprozess Selbst Eintauchen. Es Entsteht Ein Irisierendes Spannungsfeld Zwischen Information, Desinformation & Assoziation, Das Den/Die BetrachterIn Dazu Einladen Will, Den Pfaden Jener Schmetterlingswelten Zu Folgen, Ihre Geschichten Zu Entdecken Und Eigene Geschichten Und Welten Zu Formen. I prepared a small documentation of my Collage Works. hope you enjoy! Fotos: Thomas Schnabel // FotoDiaz ::: Maria Hera For the ninth consecutive year, LAMES presents the interdisciplinary Art and Culture Symposium PARQUE DEL SOL (PDS) at Spratzener Kirchenweg in St. Pölten from July 30 – August 3. The syposium hosts architects, sculptors, filmmakers, performance artists, landscape artists, light installation artists, painters, theorists, scientists, landscape architects, visual artists and many others who would like to exchange their thoughts, ideas and joyousness for a few days this Summer at our meeting rooms and the 5-hectare park “Sonnenpark”
The symposium recognizes a free space for creative thinking and doing, for interdisciplinary exchange, and space for interaction between people, art, community and the ecology! Doch was genau verheißen uns Symmetrien? Was bedeuten sie unserem Unterbewusstsein? |
